Tropic Thunder

Published by Connor at 7:36 pm under Movie

Tropic Thunder’s been out about 2 weeks now. I didn’t see it its opening week. No one I know did. So I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had heard mixed things from people I talked to who had talked to people. I did know that I hadn’t really enjoyed a Ben Stiller movie in awhile. I haven’t liked Jack Black since Saving Silverman. AndI couldn’t remember if Robert Downey Jr. had ever been in a comedy. So I was unsure. I knew it had been promoted much more than Pineapple Express which I enjoyed, and I wasn’t as excited for it as I was Step Brothers, which I loved. So I decided I’d just watch it at 1am online in a shitty version. I found a website that had it, watched it on a small little youtube screen, and then something happened.

Five minutes in I had to stop watching. I stopped watching not because

I wasn’t liking the movie. I stopped watching because I didn’t want the bad quality to ruin the movie. Because I was laughing so much in five minutes that I knew I had to see this movie.

So last night I went to see it. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading this. Don’t even waste time closing down your computer, go see this right away. I throw the “funniest movie ever” phrase around way too much. And really, that title only belongs to “Anchorman.”  But I’m not gonna lie, Tropic Thunder got as close to Anchorman as any other movie ever. There was not five minutes I wasn’t laughing my ass off. It hurt sometimes I was laughing so hard.  Jack Black was hilarious. Ben Stiller was hilarious. Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious.

Everything about this movie was funny. Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey, who I had started to not like, have been completely reborn in my heart thanks to their roles in this movie.  I plan on seeing this movie many more times, and then buying it on DVD to watch all the extra scenes and features that I’m sure will only add to the hilarity. See it. Cause I’m gonna be quoting this movie a whole lot, and I’d like for more people to know what the hell I’m talking about.
