There is nothing more annoying than when someone famous dies and everyone on facebook suddenly finds it necessary to write status updates about them. It happened most recently with Jim Johnson. Chicks everywhere, as well as guys, took it upon themself to write stuff about him. For some people it’s okay. I understand. But I’m as big an Eagles fan as anyone, and I felt it was in no way necessary for me to write any such thing. If I had died, would Jim Johnson have wrote a RIP Connor update. (OK, he probably would have, but for normal, non-awesome people he probably wouldn’t.) So why should I. To be completely honest, the only way his death affects me at all is the fact that I know our defense is now completely in Sean McDermott’s hands. His death doesn’t affect me on a personal level. Sure it sucks when people die, but people always die.
Anyway, the worst example of the facebook status pandemic was Harry Kalas. I wrote a nice piece on Harry on here, but all the sudden these girls who didn’t know what city the Phillies played in were huge fans and grief stricken by the loss of the great broadcaster. And they took to facebook to let everyone know how saddened they were. Made me sick. Here’s the convo I had with one of the girls who wrote a Harry the K facebook status.

Ugh.

Here’s my thing, when A-Rod’s name was linked to steroids, I was crushed. My favorite player was tarnished to some extent. It angered me he did it, and it angered me he was singled out. But today Manny and Ortiz were both revealed to be users. It’s absolutely no surprise at all. But I won’t lie. I’m so happy. I hate these dudes. I have never once understood their popularity. Manny plays like a retard with retard strength. But now we know the strength was just roids, so turns out he’s just a retard. And Big Papi was just a flat-out horrible player, but then all the sudden became a homer run hitter. No one wanted to admit his use. He’s a loser. People who are Ortiz fans are an embarassment to baseball fans. What a great day for baseball.
All the Phillies could have on the list is probably Abreu, and really, who cares about that dude?

“Rescued” Dolphin Killed By Hungry Sharks

NBC Miami, do we really need the “hungry”? There’s never a shark story that doesn’t end with them eating things, so we can just assume they’re always hungry.

Panic(!) at the Disco is the Jake Gyllenhaal to my Heath Ledger. I know their probably gay, but goddammit I can’t get enough. Their first CD was catchy as hell. Their next cd was just flat out really good. And now they have a new single I thoroughly enjoy. I may soon have to just face my fears and go balls deep into PatD. Anywhere, here’s their new song, New Perspective, minus the two members that just left last month.

Brinks Security recently became Broadview Security. There’s no good explanation for me knowing that, other than the fact I watch to much television. Well now they have been doing commercials and most are basically the same set up as the old Brinks commercials.
People in nice suburb have their peaceful lives interrupted by some sort of burglar.
Broadview has jumped it up a notch though. I imagine their ad guys walked into the meeting and said, “look, what you are selling is good, but the people ain’t buying it anymore. We gotta spice it up a bit.” Then they went on and on about how they need more real life situations. And what better thing to use than domestic abuse. Their newest commercial is something we can all relate to. It’s called “The Ex.” And let’s be honest, who hasn’t followed their ex girlfriend and her date around all night, watching their every move? I mean, that dude? Seriously? He’s a fucking loser. I know I was a little possessive but it’s only because I liked you so much. I know I come on strong, but it’s only because I’m so passionate and could tell we were made for each other!!!!!
Seriously, who doesn’t do that? Well anyway, Broadview Security’s new commercial tells such an awesome story in one minute. It’s so well acted, and you really feel like you personally know all three characters involved. I think this year I’m going to start an award show for commercials. This is in contention. Here it is.

We end a great week of New Music, fittingly, with Farewell. Been listening to these guys over the last year, and they just hit the spot. With the loss of the great Houston Calls, this band could work it’s way into my personal favorites with some more good albums or something. Enjoy them. It’s been a great week.

I’m sorry, but who was it, amongst all the geniuses at Pepsi that thought of their new advertising campaign? I understand their whole “old generation/new generation” idea is at least interesting, but their comparisons are so incredibly insulting to anyone with a brain. Where do they get off saying what Bob Dylan was to the old generation is what Will.I.Am is to the new generation? BOB DYLAN=WILL.I.AM!!!!?!?!?!?!?
Think about that for a second. One of the greatest, most treasured artists of all time, Bob Dylan is being replaced by Will.I.Am, the man who is apparently the voice of this generation. That’s worst than that coffee-soda drink, Pepsi-Cona.
I already prefered coke to pepsi, and this only seals the deal. I will never drink a pepsi ever again, all because of some retard in Pepsi’s advertising department. The only redeeming thing of the commercial is i think Gina Carano is smoking hot.

New Music Week continues with the Danger Summer. These guys are getting pretty popular so hop on before bandwagon’s full. I heard they even made it onto the trailer of a new Jennifer Anniston movie. If that’s not success, I don’t know what is.
